November 2nd, 2008- What a great response and great turnout. There was an huge rain storm the first day and they still CAME in, dripping wet ,rivulets running down pants and faces arriving after managing to wade and swim through the huge and scary parking lot mud lake that may have spawned frogs and rubber duckies and a few trout over the weekend. Impressive – Seems like everyone had that desperate feeling of MUST SEE ART to be sustained enough to get through this wacked out election. Most Grateful to them for coming and buying art too. One rainy day visitor was The Shadow, a great supporter of the local art scene who photographs shows and post them on his blog theshadowsf.blogspot.com – here’s the Hunters Point link http://shadowsf.blogspot.com/2008/11/open-studios-week-5-day-1.html

I had alot of fun – thank you April Hankins for the use of your great studio (a great abstractionist herself). Just alot of curious humans feeling it there at the old Navy shipyard on the waterfront , where my Mom worked during World War II, drawing blueprints for battleships and where her daughter found her audience…
