November 1 & 2, 2008 Showed the  3 year survey of my work as guest artist at The Point, an artists colony at Hunters Point Shipyard in San Francisco:   Painting from the Inside Out - Lyrical Abstractions: Enigmatic, dynamic, metaphoric, peaceful paintings by  award winning artist Soña Holman.  San Francisco’s top Open Studio  Destination, Building 117,  Suite 3206- Visit www.thepointart.com for  map and a list of all participating artists. Event Sponsored by Artspan   www.artspan.org

November 2nd, 2008- What a great response and great turnout. There was an huge  rain storm the first day and they  still CAME in, dripping wet ,rivulets running down pants and faces arriving after  managing to wade and swim through the huge and scary parking lot mud lake that may have spawned frogs and rubber duckies and a few trout over the weekend.  Impressive – Seems like  everyone had that desperate feeling of  MUST SEE ART to be sustained enough to get through this wacked out election.  Most Grateful to them for coming and buying art too. One  rainy day  visitor was The Shadow, a great supporter of the local art scene  who photographs  shows and post them on  his blog theshadowsf.blogspot.com – here’s the Hunters Point link http://shadowsf.blogspot.com/2008/11/open-studios-week-5-day-1.html

So…  Tony the super hero  owner of   Berkeley Giclee, made got me prints in time for OS . The 8” x 8” prints all sold at the Hunters Point event this weekend. HE IS GOOD and my  new hero

I had alot of fun – thank you April Hankins  for the use of your great studio (a great abstractionist herself). Just alot of curious  humans feeling it there at the old Navy shipyard on the waterfront , where my Mom worked during World War II, drawing  blueprints for battleships  and where her daughter found her audience…
